Boise, ID

Location: Boise, Idaho / Activity: Push 5K / Cost: $40

Back in July I signed up to run my first 5K. Eager to lose my baby weight, I knew this was a good motivation to get in shape and not too intimidating. Since I signed up early, I was able to get a discounted price and only had to pay $15 for the race which included a t-shirt and little gift baggy to take home. Part of the money for the Push 5K was donated to local charity's including Boise's YMCA and Boise's school for the deaf and blind.

The course was 3.1 miles at Ann Morrison Park along the green belt. I pushed my Van man dressed as a cute little penguin over bridges and through the leaves until he finally fell asleep. There is something so motivating about having a running partner and being surrounded by other people with the same goal in mind. I didn't mind the traffic of strollers. It all evened out eventually and I was able to run at my own pace with music in my ears and no worries about time.

Van and I had great support from my family and friends. Kylie cheered us on to the finish and my mom rallied with me for the majority of the course. If you're a new mom and looking to get back into shape, the stroller run is the perfect opportunity to get you started and feeling better about reaching your personal goals. Plus you get to bring your baby. Win-win.
