A BEGINNER'S CAMP GUIDE

A Beginner's Camp Guide

Summer may be over, but that doesn't mean camping has to be! A good camping experience often revolves around two things--good company and food. Here is a simple guide (if you can even call it that) of our camping favorites slash must haves. Think outside the tent!

Napsack: One of our favorite new company's, Poler Stuff, has combined the puffy coat and sleeping bag to create the napsack. Wear it around the campfire and then crawl back into your tent without having to leave the warmth of your bag! It's perfect for summer trips, traveling, camping, and we especially love using it for changing post surf sessions.

Camp Chef: A happy camper is a happy belly! With the camp chef your meal options expand to anything you can cook on your stove at home. This portable stove works great for boiling water and cooking multiple items. Who knows, maybe one night you won't have time to start a fire or you're out of firewood and this will come in handy.

Lantern: Any form of light is necessary. Whether that be a lighter, headlamp, flashlight, or lantern, but a lantern provides the most light. We like to have one good one to set on the picnic table for late night games or for midnight runs to the bathroom.

Mug: You just gotta have the cute blue mugs with the white speckles! They've been around forever! The classic camping mug that won't let you down. Keeps your drink warm, easy to clean, durable, fairly light, and photogenic.

S'more: It's just not a camping trip without s'mores. Chocolate, graham crackers, and marshmallows. Mmmmm. Have any of you tried the new stacker marshmallows? They are supposed to be perfect for s'mores, a great alternative to the gigantic campfire mallows. I can't decide which is best!

With a little preparation and planning, camping is a simple and inexpensive way to enjoy the great outdoors. We can't get enough of it. Happy camping!

  1. Aww what a great list. Makes me sad that we didn't get a chance to do any camping this summer since we just moved into a new house, but we still had s'mores over a fire in the backyard to get that same feeling. Oh well, next year!
