WESTPORT IS FOR LOVERS

Location: Westport, Washington / Activity: surf and explore... and fish

After camping along the Oregon coast we were eager to get to our destination in Washington. Westport is a small fisherman's town lined with grassy coastlines and crabby beaches. Lots and lots of crabs! We also found several driftwood beach huts, each marked with the initials of strangers. We carved ours in too, who knows- maybe someday we'll come back and see "D+M+V".

Westport is a charming town, but not exactly what we expected. I was recovering from my sunburn and taking care of Van, while Drew surfed the familiar break where he first learned how to surf. We stayed at the cozy (+dog friendly) Westport Inn and relaxed to the pulsing sound of fog horns.

We seemed to have the town all to ourselves. Often we were the only ones on the beach and maybe a couple other surfers. Nobody was there to bother us. It was as if we were the only visitors in all of Westport.

  1. I love going to secluded places (I wish there were more of them). Sounds like the perfect trip.

  3. A lot of our Washington beaches are like that - totally uncrowded gems and perfect for little ones in summer. We just took our 3yo twins to Pacific Beach and it was a great trip for all of us. Love your pics. :)
