Destination: Joshua Tree National Park / Camping fee: $10 / Park Entrance Fee: $15 / Distance from LA: 2.5 hours

Joshua Tree is amazing. It's a gigantic desert full of what they call joshua trees, which aren't actually cactuses at all - hence their name "tree," but because they're covered in a coat of needles they tend to be grouped with their desert cacti friends. The Native Americans once used these needles to weave into sandals and baskets. How 'bout that?! Today it's a popular recreation destination for hikers, campers, photographers and especially rock climbers. There's tons of places to climb and explore, including skull rock (pictured above) and various hiking trails. If you are a fan of the desert, or are a little like me and open to any landscape then you really ought to try out Joshua Tree. Wish list it.
It's kinda a dream come true!

We saw coyotes roaming free, and if you're lucky you'll spot a tortoise. We weren't that lucky. But the coyotes made us feel like we scored big, especially since they walked ten feet from where we were standing! We spent the entire time wandering the desert like a couple of vagabonds. The Joshua tree is a Dr. Seuss type of tree. They're bendy and funky and quite neat to look at. While we were there I decided to do a little photo project and pose like the different trees we stumbled upon.

Which one is your favorite?!
