TRAVELING IN FASHION - WHERE TO SHOP

A Traveling Triplets follower asked me where I got these bad boys. I got them at an outdoors store in Rexburg, Idaho called the ORC. Since I was in University at the time, I got a mean discount. However, you will likely not be stopping by the ORC anytime soon so you can find these sandals at Backcountry.com, one of our favorite sites! They're also available at any outdoor recreation store - which I will mention here in a second.

Chacos are great sandals for hiking because they have fantastic traction - they let your feet breathe, obviously you can get wet and dirty in them and easily rinse off, and they are comfortable! Plan on budgeting about $85-100 on these sandals and you are set!

As for outdoor clothing, Traveling Triplet's favorite places to shop are Sierra Trading Post, REI, Backcountry.com, and Cabelas. A reader also recommended Gear Trade, which we have used in the past and it is quite a cool deal. They have a lot of variety and everything you could possibly need. The only downside is outdoor gear is pretty expensive. We suggest looking for sales, like we did here and here. Sometimes they'll have awesome blowout sales where everything is way cheaper and discounted because styles or colors have been discontinued in certain merchandise. Also, don't be afraid to check out Ebay. Megan scored some sweet Chacos there for $50!

I'd recommend becoming an REI member, you can do this in the store location or online here. They have a sick summer sale that ends July 4th, so make your purchases now!

  1. Have you ever heard of geartrade.com? You can buy gently used and sometimes new merchandise steeply discounted! I would check there before purchasing any thing! They have lots of Northface and Mammot and Columbia merchandise.
